Manufacturing Matters Campaign
Powering Europe’s Competitiveness: Manufacturing Matters is an advocacy and awareness campaign to highlight the strategic importance of manufacturing research and innovation (R&I) for Europe’s future.
At a time of intensified global competition and accelerating green and digital transitions, the campaign calls on EU policymakers to prioritise manufacturing in Framework Programme 10 (FP10) and not only!
Powering Europe’s Competitiveness: Manufacturing Matters
Europe stands at a critical crossroads.
As global competition intensifies and the urgency of the green and digital transitions grows, our ability to remain a global leader in innovation depends on one thing above all: strong, resilient manufacturing.
Manufacturing is more than factories and production lines. It is the backbone of Europe’s economy, the engine of innovation, and the foundation for sustainable jobs, technological sovereignty, and industrial resilience.
Through this campaign, “Powering Europe’s Competitiveness: Manufacturing Matters,” we call on European policymakers to significantly increase support and funding for manufacturing research and innovation.
Why This Matters?
Manufacturing research drives Europe’s global competitiveness through advanced technologies such as AI, robotics, digitalisation, and sustainable production.
It safeguards high-quality employment and value-added industries across the EU.
- It strengthens resilience and strategic autonomy in critical sectors, from clean energy and mobility to high-tech goods and defence.
A strong manufacturing base means a stronger, more prosperous, and more secure Europe.
Our 5 strategic pillars:
- Innovation, Industrial Scaling & Productivity
- Strategic Autonomy & Industrial Resilience
- Circular & Climate‑Neutral Industrial Production
- Digitalisation, Automation & Industrial AI
- Workforce Empowerment, Skills & Human‑Centric Transformation
Our Call to Action
As the EU prepares Framework Programme 10 (FP10), manufacturing-oriented research and innovation must remain a central pillar of Europe’s policy agenda.
We call on European policymakers to:
- Reinforce manufacturing research within FP10
- Ensure long-term investment in industrial innovation
- Secure the continuity and ambition of the Made in Europe Partnership
